Thoughts...
I find it really fascinating that people will not read simple signs when they are looking to park a car. Then will have the audacity to complain that we didn't do enough to tell them the rules. I will never understand how it is instantly our fault because a driver made a mistake. But I think the thing that really gets me is that when we try to explain our rules, policies, and procedures to them they instantly take offence and that it is now somehow an inconvenience to them that they now have to follow those rules to contest a citation. Like what is it about some people who think that just because they made a mistake that it is somehow a gross violation of their rights that in order to resolve that mistake there is a process they have to go through. I found the same to be true when I worked in the food service industry that if the mistake was the fault of the customer they would take it out on the staff and the business and try to turn it around on them. This really pissed me off because at the end of the day there is this prevailing notion that "the customer is always right" and that could not be further from the truth as more often than not the customer is always wrong. 95% of the time the customer gets exactly what they want nothing more nothing less and the other 5% of the time I can say with almost 100% certainty was not the fault of the staff or the business. Consumers are such idiots when it comes to simple reading and comprehension. You could have a big giant sign that says do not park here and guaranteed some jackass would park there and then complain that they did not see the sign. My father used to have a saying for these types of people. He used to say "Son remember 'You can lead a horse to water, but you can not make it drink'". So it always makes me wonder what do people think would happen when they may mistakes. Are people just supposed to go "oh well gee sorry about that here let me fix it for you no worries". Or is it more reasonable to tell people "oh gee im sorry about that here is what you can do to resolve that mistake and take care of it, and also here is some direction on how to not make that mistake again". I truly believe that not enough people in this world are held responsible for their actions when it comes to Customer Service. As a business Customer Service is there to help you not fix the fact that you are an idiot. Some people never learn and can not be helped. The best one I heard today was a person got a citation for parking in someone's Numbered Reserved space and had the nerve to tell me that because it is the summer that made it ok to park in someone's space!! Fucking Idiots.
